Hoover Dam

IMG_9461Hoover DamIMG_9421I tried to book a Bus trip to Hoover Dam but couldn’t figure out where they picked up or what the best deal was.  I also read bad reviews of the bus trip on Trip Advisor.

Two winged statues on way to tour.

I decided to go in Vanna on my own and I’m glad I did.

Tight security on the way to see the dam.  Vanna was inspected and so was my purse.IMG_9434

On my way to tour. New Pat Tillman bridge by passing the Dam.

The Hoover Dam is awesome and an amazing engineering project.  It makes it all happen in Southern California and Las Vegas.  The amount of water provides for needs of more than 20,000,000 people.  Electricity provided for1.3 million people .  I wonder if people appreciate it.

Inside the Dam.

It was a Dam good tour!

Next I park and walk across the Mike O’Callaghan Pat Tillman bridge.  I stand between Arizona and Nevada.  I stand at the apex of the bridge.IMG_9455   IMG_9450

Boulder City

Boulder City is next and my hunt for The Coffee Cup Cafe, as read about in the L.A. Times, two weeks ago.  I sit under Guy Ferri’s autographed photo from Diners.  The famous Bloody Mary comes with a big piece of bacon.  It’s the best!

The Best!

Las Vegas is now a huge metropolis city.  I remember driving through Las Vegas when I was driving across country fifty years ago.  It was a small town and now it’s huge!  All the buildings and industries make me feel like I am in a Science Fiction place of the future.  I’m on the 14th floor of a building in the desert.  Every night I go to the pool on the roof and look over to see the Chrysler Building at NewYork NewYork.  In the elevator one man worries about all the water in the pool on the roof.  IMG_9415 Back to my research:  Another Lobster roll.  This is delicious and most popular says the waiter. It’s Todd English’s PUB.IMG_9412

IMG_9411

It’s delicious but way too rich.

I found it to be way to rich with loads of mayo and butter fried bun.  It tasted good at the time BUT.

A Day at RED ROCK CANYON

IMG_9390Escaping the razzle and dazzle of Las Vegas I head to Red Rock Canyon.

I enjoy the Visitor Center.  Lots of well presented exhibits.IMG_9354

Walking to Paris and the Bellagio

Out to explore, I walk to Planet Hollywood, Paris and then the Bellagio. I pass the Lobster Place and plan to return later.

Lobster Me did not receive a top rating from me.

Rauschenberg Painting

I keep walking around the Bellagio and spot 2 Rauschenberg paintings.

Resting on the bench I study the huge painting and the Guard tells me it cost 5 million dollars.

Las Vegas Here I come

Las Vegas Here I COME!IMG_9204 It feels so good to get to Barstow.  Barstow means it’s the open road.  Superbowl Bear has joined the Moose brothers on our way to Las Vegas.  I have the radio on filled with laugh out loud jokes about football deflation.  I am weary of the state ofmedia and what they think is important news.

IMG_9206

The Open Road route 15 North.  I’m thinking how it changes your thinking to be in a car with desert surrounding.

It’s like a meditation.  Time to think while watching for crazy drivers.  Friday on the way to Vegas.  It’s bad when they speed past you in the right lane doing 90 miles an hour.  I wonder why?

My RoomIMG_9212

My View

My room is small and I like it.  It’s well designed with a cute balcony looking at the city and the hills.IMG_9216

I sign up for the shuttle to go to The Freemont Experience at 7 p.m.

It’s Sin City, Drinking funny tall drinks in the streets, nudity, and the strange.

WOW!  It is an experience.  I was overwhelmed.  I can’t even find all the words to describe it, but i’ll look for them. IMG_9227

Painting at Crystal Cove, I sold this piece and the next one to a passing lady. She asked to see what I was doing and said "Oh, your a real artist. Do you sell your work?" Yes, and I sold 2 pieces to her. It was a fun day.
