Carol and Cinnamon

IMG_0570 After days and days of rainy, cloudy weather, it’s a beautiful day.  Cinnamon and I both feel better.

We go out walking at 6:45 a.m. for 1/2 hour.  Cinnamon was full speed ahead today.  Rainy days we are both dragging along.

I  didn’t see all the mountains until yesterday afternoon.  At which point we jumped into the golf cart and went for a ride. IMG_0516

Mountain View

I pulled out my sketch book and paints while Cinnamon checked the area for interesting smells. We returned home and sat on the patio watching the mountains and people walking by.  It is such a beautiful view here at Sun Lakes.

I love the shopping and have been to Cabizon twice.  I like the Columbia Store.

New clothes from Columbia

Eddie Bauers and Chico’s Outlet are favorites.

We are off to visit my Niece and her Husband.

The Art Exhibit of paintings already finished is on display in the Adobe at Sherman Gardens.

Pictures from the Garden I am painting at.

I usually wear old painting clothes BUT, my friends and I decided I needed to be more festive. I have a new apron from Sherman Gardens gift shop and I also have a bright, big magenta hat to wear. I’m ready to paint and greet the people on the tour.

I’m painting The Headless Woman in the Garden.

The Headless Woman. 6″x6″ painting in the series. This is my favorite painting. Until I finish my next one.

Flowers by The Gift Shop

I have been working very hard getting ready for this day!  The paintings done before the tour are on exhibit in the Adobe at Sherman Library and Gardens.  The artists are all assigned and ready to go.

Callie is a wonderful dog. Painted in my small 6″x6″ series.

The houses are all perfectly groomed by the volunteers.  Two paintings by artists on the tour, have already been sold.  Yipee!  Ready to go!

These are 4, 6″x6″ pieces of the Garden I am painting at. It’s fun to put them into different arrangements.

Crystal Cove State Park

Camping at Crystal Cove

Ocean view from my sketchbook. This is the same view as my blog header from last year.

I can’t remember when I last went camping with Vanna White.  Vanna White is the name of my VW Euro Van Camper.   I hoped I could remember how to pop the tent and roll out the awning.IMG_0343

I head 2 miles down the road to Crystal Cove State Park Moro Campground.  I first went there in 2011 and it was almost empty, during the week.  Now in 2015, I have trouble getting a reservation 2 months ahead and settle for Wed. and Thurs.  It’s been featured in Sunset magazine and other articles as a great campground.

First I meet my friend at the beach.

Raella watercolor sketching

Whale watching boat in front of us.

Raella and I sat and talked, painted with our watercolors and saw a whale watching boat and whales.  We could see the sprouting water and the gray of the whales back.  It’s always exciting to me to see whales.

Watercolor sketch on beach

The beach was getting crowded and we headed to the Beachcomber for lunch.  Yum!

IMG_0315 My tuna melt and Raella’s salad where delicious.IMG_0316

Wine of course, as we were celebrating the day.IMG_0313

At 3 pm. I checked into the campground.  I like to relax and work on my paintings away from the distraction of household chores.  The top popped up.IMG_0340

The bed came down, the awning rolled out and I painted away.IMG_0335

I was working on paintings from the house on the garden tour. IMG_0339 One painting is done before the tour and another the day of the tour.

Diane and Colin visited me for a walk and a hot dog dinner at my ocean view spot 39.

There are many hiking trails in Moro Park.

Hot dogs, green salad and potato salad taste great at the beach.

This is a great place to hang out, relax and paint.
