Statement by Frank Stella “There is an energy- and excitement-in the newer work that the stripe paintings didn’t have.  I don’t think you can do it all at once.  That’s why you’re lucky you have a lifetime.”

  1. What an incredible experience you are having. This is our NYC Christmas so D&A already have the Stella exhibit lined up for us. They loved it, also. Probably won’t get to the Pollack as traveling in a group is a bit slower and mixing in the holiday.
Your sketching is fun carrying the essence of the trees. I enjoy the whimsyness of it (is that a word and did I spell it right?)

    • I hope you like the Stella exhibit too! I didn’t really get excited about the all black paintings and geometric ones but it will be interesting to see what you think. Spelling is totally not my strength. See you soon.

  2. Thanks for the mini tour of my old stomping grounds, All school holidays included a couple of trips into the city, MOMA was always one of my favorites however I liked your sketches just as well. You have been missed at the Monday breakfasts.
    See ya soon, Marty

  3. Loved your blog. I wish I had been with you, but your pictures and sketches also made me feel like I was there – lots of familiar places, including that copper beech tree at Wave Hill.

    Love,
    Diane
